It's beginning to feel a lot like...

... CHRISTMAS !!!

The last few weeks have been super busy {as most people are at this time of year} from my birthday, to family visiting, to end of year for work etc etc... I had a lovely day yesterday finalising my Christmas shopping and was so excited last night when everything was wrapped & looking beautiful. I love creating a mini theme for my gifts and this year went with a duck egg blue wrapping paper and a selection of red & white grosgrain ribbon {bought last year after Christmas in preparation}. The gorgeous tags are from one of my favourite stores Kikki K. How are your festive season plans going?

Colour obsession...

I have been obsessing over coral for a while now and have little bits creeping into my house mixed with aqua. I love the use of it in the picture above and think that the carpet is WOW!!! Do you go through colour obsessions at all?

Hobart haunt...

We stayed for a few nights at this amazing hotel in Hobart - The Henry Jones Art Hotel. The hotel is housed in the old IXL Jam factory and the interior still has many original features such as exposed beams, original exposed brickwork and the 'Australian' corrugated iron. I could have quite happily stayed for a lot longer {if we didn't have to continue on the rest of our trip}.

Hope you had a lovely Monday :-)

Kelley Moore's office in the latest Rue mag {which is fabulous I might add} is amazing!!! What an incredibly inspiring space it must be to work in - I loved everything about it.

Have a fabulous weekend - I'm off up north to visit my little niece before she gets too much bigger!!!

Designer faves...

I am often revisiting designer's websites to see if there has been anything updated or added to their portfolio, and I came across Krista Ewart in my files. Even though some of her work has been shown extensively around 'blog land' {and rightly so}, I couldn't resist posting a few of my favourite pics!!!

Weekend snippet...

It has been a relatively quiet weekend in our house - the perfect time to do some rearranging {and the dreaded cleaning!!}. I love starting the new week with everything sorted and a few little projects completed. Stay tuned...

Postcards from Tasmania {#2}...

Our driving holiday was basically a 'round' trip of the state. We flew in to Launceston, worked our way up the north coast to Stanley, & drove via Cradle Mountain to Strahan. From there we went across to Hobart and did south of Hobart via a day trip. After that we went via Port Arthur up to Swansea where we had some 'relaxation' time {and didn't want to leave}!!! We then travelled up the east coast to St Helen's and explored the Bay of Fires from there. It was then back to Launceston on the last day for our flight home.

The western wilderness we found amazing and beautiful and could have explored for days!! We ventured to Arthur Creek and where this meets this sea and is aptly called 'The edge of the world'... It felt like it too! Aprt from the amazing scenery, we loved the little towns along the way and enjoyed a quick look through the many antique shops and bric a brac places {with some treasures to take back with us}.

I don't want to bore too much with these photos but will post a couple more from the latter part of trip later in the week. Happy Monday :-)

Postcards from Tasmania {#1}...

We are back from our trip and had the most wonderful 2 weeks!!! We could have quite happily stayed there and loved the countryside and relaxed way of life. Although we drove around most of the island, we felt that there was still plenty more to see and do {as we love exploring every little side road and path}. We did lots of bushwalks and had every season of weather, from rain to sun to snow and then heat!!!

I will be posting some 'postcards' of pictures that I took to give you a glimpse into our little trip :-)

We're off tomorrow morning on a 2 week holiday for some R&R to Tasmania. We plan on doing lots of sightseeing, wine tasting, cheese tasting, sampling amazing seafood {Oh....and lots of walking to make up for all the eating & drinking!!!}.

See you in 2 weeks :-)

Chanel love...

There are lattice screens and feature panels that make appearances now and then in interiors {and exteriors for that matter}, but this one is perfection as far as I'm concerned.

The sad part of life...

Life throws us many challenges, both good and bad. Whilst my family has experienced a number of these in our lives, we recently went through a devastating experience. A few days after my last post {just over a month ago}, I went for a routine check at our obstetrician only to find that at 23 weeks of pregnancy, our little baby girl had passed away suddenly. Words cannot describe the days that followed as I was induced that night and gave birth the next day. We named her Ella Skye and she was laid to rest a week later at a beautiful & simple service. The staff at the Mater Private Womens Hospital {in Brisbane} were absolutely amazing and the support provided was second to none.

We have been so fortunate to have had amazing support from our families, work colleagues and friends and have gained immense strength from them and also from each other. Life has been hard since then but we are working through the healing process and will come out the other side even stronger than before.

I have missed blogging and seeing what everyone else is up to. I will be back {I'm not sure how often} but will endeavour to catch up with all of your blogs soon.

Lots of love,
Kelly

Whirlwind weekend...

Life has flown by since last Friday when I found out my sister was having her baby early. I flew up to North Queensland late Friday night so I could be there and it was an amazing weekend. They had a little girl {named Grace} who is absolutely gorgeous. It was so hard for me to leave them and fly back to work on Monday morning (the 6am flight isn't fun at the best of times!!!). I can't wait to see her again in a few more weeks :-)

Finished product...

I'm so excited!!!! My dining chairs are finished and were delivered to work today for me to take home. I couldn't resist taking a picture of them in the front section of the shop around a gorgeous Stuart Membery round table. If only this was my dining room at home!!! I'll be sure to post some pics at home once things are a little closer to being finished. To see the chairs before their makeover click here.

Cot musings...

With renovations almost complete, the room that will be our nursery {this room is our study / my craft room at the moment} will soon be ready to decorate. I have a lot planned in my mind but have been searching the web for inspiration. We already have a cot which is identical to the last picture and I love it. It was an ebay find of course!!! I have posted a few of my favourite pictures of cots (found here & here), although there are so many more :-)

Beautiful pots... Where are you?

It's exciting times for me at the moment as our little renovations are drawing to an end!!! One of the things I am most looking forward to is having an entertaining area at one end of the backyard which leads into our rumpus room. The paving and edging is almost finished and my mind is whirling with ideas of pots, plants and how to decorate the fabulous new space. There is a gorgeous shaded area in one corner which lends itself to a hammock for lazy reading. I have it all pictured in my head, but now to finally put it into action {the fun part}.

Now.... If only I could find some fabulous pots and planters to complete the look :-)

Black & Spiro unveiled ...

We are open again!!! The new Black & Spiro store / design studio was unveiled on Wednesday night of this week to friends and clients and proved to be a fabulous night. It has been many weeks of hard work in the lead up, but the end result is more than worth it - we are all so excited and had so much fun getting everything ready!!! The new look is bright, fun and full of colour and sophistication. The Stuart Membery furniture is stunning and looks fabulous amongst all the other pieces. Anna Spiro has posted more gorgeous pictures on her blog {click here to have a look at her amazing showroom}.

I hope you are able to pop in and visit us if you live in Brissie or happen to be passing through...

Have a fabulous weekend :-)

Spanish Colonial Beauty...

The above gorgeous images are of a Spanish Colonial Revival house whose interiors were designed by none other than Kathryn Ireland. The colours in the above rooms make for a subtle and inviting space. I would love to find a pair of pots like this for my house!!!

A little update...

Time has whisked by so fast that I simply cannot believe how long it has been since my last post. So many things have happened in that time and I am gradually coming back down to earth and settling back into some sort of routine. Having spent so much time on my computer during my final weeks of study I have enjoyed time away but have missed so much in blog world!!!! I have a LOT to catch up on and I can't wait to visit everyone again :-)

Some things that have been happening that have kept me busy...

I finished my design course (so am now officially qualified - hooray) which was a huge relief after a lot of hard work (especially in the final stages).
I can now look forward to a social life again!!!

We signed a contract with a builder to commence some renovations on our house (both inside and outside) - This is MOST exciting for me, as I have been planning these almost since we moved in!!!

My husband and I are expecting our first child, due in December which is both very exciting and scary at the same time!!! Now the sickness has subsided I can start enjoying life again. There are so many things to look forward to :-)

My sister and her husband are also expecting (due September) which is so amazing as both little ones will be born in the same year - My mum is beside herself!!!

Amongst many other things, did I mention that I have finally finished studying?  :-)

I hope you are all having a lovely week & I look forward to catching up on some inspirational reading.
