The sad part of life...

Life throws us many challenges, both good and bad. Whilst my family has experienced a number of these in our lives, we recently went through a devastating experience. A few days after my last post {just over a month ago}, I went for a routine check at our obstetrician only to find that at 23 weeks of pregnancy, our little baby girl had passed away suddenly. Words cannot describe the days that followed as I was induced that night and gave birth the next day. We named her Ella Skye and she was laid to rest a week later at a beautiful & simple service. The staff at the Mater Private Womens Hospital {in Brisbane} were absolutely amazing and the support provided was second to none.

We have been so fortunate to have had amazing support from our families, work colleagues and friends and have gained immense strength from them and also from each other. Life has been hard since then but we are working through the healing process and will come out the other side even stronger than before.

I have missed blogging and seeing what everyone else is up to. I will be back {I'm not sure how often} but will endeavour to catch up with all of your blogs soon.

Lots of love,
Kelly

  1. Kelly, that is so awful.. I am so so sorry for your loss. I know that you will have no special memories of your dear little angel which does help me ( i lost my son when he was 3yrs) and I just cant imagine how it is when you dont get to `meet`your baby.
Dont rush into anything or let anyone tell you how to feel, or how to deal with your grief; its a very personal thing. Just take your time and look after yourself..

  12. One of the strange things about this virtual world is that sudden silence can mean so many things, generally either an unexpectedly busy period or a terrible sadness such as you've had. Thank you for sharing the trauma you and your family have been through. I'm so sorry for the loss of ella skye.

  15. Kelly, I'm so sorry for your loss. I would never have understood how devestating this loss could be until a very close family member of mine had the same experience at full term a couple of years ago. I have to say that as an aunt for the first time it really changed my life for ever. It brought our family together. Ella Skye is a beautiful name. She will always be with you. Take care.

  18. Sending you lots of love. Take Care of yourself and take as much time as you need. When a loss occurs in our lives, we are often expected to hop back to it. I think, in some ways, that it is only then prolonged. It is ok to be sad. Tricia www.cafetrix.blogspot.com

  31. Oh, Kelly, I somehow missed that critical post. As a new follower, I haven't really got to 'know' you yet but as a fellow mum of 3 under 5 who has experienced my own tragedy, I really feel for you. Hang in there. Life may seem a blur, an unimportant detail at the moment, but you will keep waking up to start a new day. Some day you will feel a little less pain. Sending you a Hobart hug J x

  42. Kelly I was said to see your post a couple of months ago. I just recently went into pre term labour and lost our little boy at 21 weeks. It is such a devastating loss but through all the pain it does somehow make us all stronger. I wish you all the best for the future and your little angle will always be with you.
