Christmas flea & a new venture...

On Saturday just gone, Anna Spiro held another one of her fabulous flea markets at her store {Black & Spiro}. It was a Christmas flea and had a number of Brisbane artists displaying their wares & beautiful things they had made. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to launch some of my own products which included cushions and tablecloths. I have had these in the pipeline for so long & it was a fabulous opportunity to have them displayed amongst so many other beatiful things.

 

The cushions & tablecloths were all made by me. There were cushions made from a vintage tropical toile fabric, hand block printed with the word "love" in fluoro pink and also orange. They were a hit {thank you so much to everyone who purchased one} & the fabric is stunning. There is only a small amount of fabric left so I will be working out today how many cushions are left for those who have placed orders!!! The other cushions were a cute pink/white stripe & orange/white stripe with hand sewn pom poms in the shape of a heart. I am a little obsessed with love hearts {as you may have gathered from many of my earlier posts} so this series of cushions I called 'Spread the Love'.... Just in time for Christmas.

 The tablecloths are a large patchwork design made from a mixture of bright & colourful florals, stripes, spots etc. They would look fabulous on a Christmas table or outside for a garden BBQ.

There will be many changes happening in the new year both on the blog & with my new venture so stay tuned!!! There will be more beautiful wares coming in the new year so I will keep you all posted.

Launch Party {Anna Spiro for Porters Paints}...

 

 

 

 

Last night I was excited to attend the Anna Spiro for Porters Paints launch party held at Black & Spiro. What an great night it was - Congratulations to Anna for hosting a wonderful evening and for the wallpaper collaboration with Porters. It is something so different & special and will be a success I'm sure!!! The shop looked amazing and was filled with gorgeous flowers and garden plants to compliment the wallpaper range {as well as the usual amazing decor, furniture & accessories}. If you live in Brisbane and haven't been to have a look yet, you must!!!

The range can be viewed online at Porters Paints, and there are sample books available in Porters Paints outlets as well at Black & Spiro.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend. We are off to the coast to attend Sam's first party - his cousins 1st birthday party, so should be fun!

A Happy {Black & Spiro} Easter...

Wishing you all a very happy Easter & restful break.

I thought I would share a little insight into how we created the Easter window at Black & Spiro this year. It all started with an idea for custom fabric printed with brightly coloured bunnies & went from there. The pictures below show the various stages involved...

The classics...

This post was inspired by another shipment of some stunning hand painted Moroccan tables that are now in store at Black & Spiro. They are black & white in various designs, and it got me thinking how classic & striking the black/white combination is. I have touches of black & white around my house but was inspired today by pictures of both fashion & design that I found in my files. There are endless ways of incorporating this classic into design and it fits with every style!!!

Garden inspiration...

Yesterday I had a lovely day off & for the first time in ages, went out & about to visit some of my favourite haunts. I popped in to work to say hi & saw a gorgeous little posy on the front desk. Anna had raided her garden & the result was a fresh & pretty arrangement. I was inspired & went home to raid my own garden {that I frequently say has no flowers to cut... Something I am working on} and found surprises everywhere. I snipped & snipped and my bunch of cuttings turned into a simple, little floral display that now sits on my coffee table!!!

Finished product...

I'm so excited!!!! My dining chairs are finished and were delivered to work today for me to take home. I couldn't resist taking a picture of them in the front section of the shop around a gorgeous Stuart Membery round table. If only this was my dining room at home!!! Black & Spiro unveiled ...

We are open again!!! The new Black & Spiro store / design studio was unveiled on Wednesday night of this week to friends and clients and proved to be a fabulous night. It has been many weeks of hard work in the lead up, but the end result is more than worth it - we are all so excited and had so much fun getting everything ready!!! The new look is bright, fun and full of colour and sophistication. The Stuart Membery furniture is stunning and looks fabulous amongst all the other pieces.
